Diego Rico: 'I Can Bring My Experience, Hard Work and Humility'

Defender Diego Rico addressed the media during his presentation as a new player for Club Atlético Osasuna. With a longstanding career, Rico highlighted how he can help the team by sharing his experience and work ethic.

"I think I bring my experience, hard work and humility. Those are things that have characterized me. From there, I aim to be an asset wherever the coach thinks is best. The most important thing is the team," Rico said.

When asked about his primary goals with his new team, the defender said he wants to repay the club's confidence in him and quickly find his place in head coach Luis Miguel Ramis' tactics.

"I want to make my presence known within the team quickly. My goal is to repay the club for trusting me and giving me this opportunity," Rico said. "I'm trying to find my place with my teammates quickly and adapt to what the coach wants from me. That's how I've always worked, and I don't see a reason why it will be different this season."

The new Osasuna signing also spoke about the Rojillo fans and the home-field advantage at El Sadar, having experienced it from the opposing side.

"El Sadar puts pressure on you. It's a tough venue and the team was hard to beat. We knew coming in that details would make the difference between taking the points or not. Now my hope is that we can provide our fans with many joyous moments," he said.

Braulio Vázquez: 'In the Sporting Department, We Believe He Is a Perfect Fit'

Osasuna sporting director Braulio Vázquez joined Rico during his presentation and discussed how the team had previously tried to sign him, and how he will increase competition within the squad.

"In the sporting department, we believe he is a perfect fit. We tried to sign him before, but weren't able to. Both he and his agent know I like him a lot and have been tracking him for a while now," Vázquez said. "As far as competition goes, in that position—defender Abel Bretones—we could have cloned a similar player. Now, with Diego, we can use him on the flanks, in offense and defense, or as a center back in a line of four or three. With this move, we're equipping our head coach with more options and someone other than Abel. At the sporting level, you already know him. On a personal level, I know him, and all the reports about him are positive. He knows where he comes from and wants to thank us for trusting him."
